Uses of LOSACAR A 50/5 mg Tablet 

LOSACAR A, Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that dilates (widens) blood vessels and improves blood flow. Amlodipineis used to treat chest pain (angina) and other conditions caused by coronary artery disease. Amlodipine is used in the management of hypertension and coronary artery disease (chronic stable angina, vasospastic angina, and angiographically documented CAD without heart failure or ejection fraction < 40%.). It can be used as either monotherapy or combination therapy for the management of hypertension or coronary artery disease.

Losartan  is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist drug used mainly to treat high blood pressure.

How it Work 

Amlodipine, is an angio-selective calcium channel blocker. Amlodipine inhibits calcium ion influx across cell membranes, with a greater effect on vascular smooth muscle cells. This causes vasodilation and a reduction peripheral vascular resistance, thus lowering blood pressure.

Losartan relaxes the blood vessels which lowers the blood pressure and also reduces the workload of the heart. As a result, the heart works more efficiently.

Common Side Effects

Common side effects of Amlodipine include swelling, feeling tired, abdominal pain, and nausea.

Common side effects of Losartan are upper respiratory infections or stuffy nose, dizziness, and back pain.
