Uses of ATEN H 50/25 mg Tablet

Atenolol belongs to a class of drugs known as beta blockers. Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. Also this medication is choice to treat chest pain (angina).

Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic medication to treat high blood pressure and swelling due to fluid build up. Other uses include diabetes insipidus, renal tubular acidosis, and to decrease the risk of kidney stones in those with high calcium level in the urine. Further for high blood pressure it is often recommended as a first line treatment. HCTZ is taken by mouth. Also it may be combine with other blood pressure medications as a single pill to increase the effectiveness.
